First edition<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white” align=”align_left” border_width=”2″ el_width=”10″ css=”.vc_custom_1509489856265{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Helsingborg Marathon’s first edition started to take form in the spring of 2012 when Andreas Gartmyr and Simon Wikstrand played with the idea of a new long distance race. It didn’t take long before they realised that Helsingborg offers a big variety of\u00a0surfaces and beautiful surroundings, like the littoral for example, which are unique for this kind of event. History<\/h1>\n

2014<\/h3>\n

The first edition of Helsingborg Marathon started the September 13, 2014. 1271 runners completed the marathon race and 1484 runners completed the relay. Already in its first year, Helsingborg Marathon became the second biggest marathon i Sweden and a real success both for runners, audience and the city of Helsingborg.<\/p>\n

2015<\/h3>\n

The second year and our first home victory at Helsingborg Marathon when Anna Bjurman finished at 3:10:10. This was also the year when our, nowadays famous, green pacers made their entrance and helped a lot of runners to reach their dream goals. Runners Club<\/a>\u00a0had their first “graduation day” with 34 runners who completed the race.<\/p>\n

2016<\/h3>\n

The third edition offered a whole new course around Helsingborg Arena and through Maria Park to show even more of Helsingborg. Anders Dahlman took over the throne from Henrik Orre who won the first two editions. Malin Holmberg finished at 3:03:29, a new course record for women. At last, this was the first year where we had four different types of categories in relay: men, women, mixed and corporate.<\/p>\n

2017<\/h3>\n

The premiere of Dole Kids Run, which allured over 150 kids to run along the ocean towards the finish line. Klas Johnsson from Vegan Runners IK finished in 2:13:12 and set a new course record for Helsingborg Marathon. Josefin Svanlindh from Sollentuna, Stockholm was the best in the women’s category and finished at 3:08:15. In HBGM Relay, yet again G\u00f6tak\u00e4rlek was the fastest team with Falkenberg Allstars, who won the mixed class, closely behind. IS S\u00f6ta took their second victory in the women’s category and ATEA with friends won the corporate category.<\/p>\n

2018<\/h3>\n

The 5-year anniversary of Helsingborg Marathon had almost 1000 runners on the starting line outside Dunkers Kulturhus. The premiere of Helsingborg Half Marathon became a success with almost as many participants as the marathon. Marcus \u00c5berg, H\u00e4sselby SK and Jenny M\u00e5rtensson, Falkenberg Allstars became the historical winners. Josefin Gerdev\u00e5g, KFUM \u00d6rebro and Erik Anf\u00e4lt, \u00d6rebro AIK, both set course record for the marathon race. Josefin finished at 2:54:01 and Erik at 2:30:54.<\/p>\n

2019<\/h3>\n

This is the year where we mainly remember the heat. Up to 30 degrees made the sixth edition of the Helsingborg Marathon the toughest ever. Henrik Orre was back and took his third victory in 5 starts. Anna Bjurman from Helsingborg wins the Helsingborg Half marathon only month after hers first child arrived. Falkeberg Allstars wins the HBGM Relay Mix and and was also the fastest team of all participants.<\/p>\n

2020<\/h3>\n

A year that everyone will remember for a long time. In the beginning of the year, we all learned new words and expressions like Covid-19, Corona and social distance. Due to the restrictions by the Swedish Public Health Agency and the government, Helsingborg Marathon was forced to be canceled.<\/p>\n

2021<\/h3>\n

A year late, it was finally time for the seventh edition of the Helsingborg Marathon in classic HBGM weather – blue skies and around 20 degrees. The third edition of the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon was the fastest. SM gold winner Samuel Russom, H\u00e4sselby SK broke his previous course record and ran into the new record time of 1:02:52. Nicole Pelin, Warberg RC won the female class in 1:24:48. A novelty for the year was that HBGM Relay got a new half marathon distance and the success was a fact.<\/p>\n

The year when HBGM turned into a true celebration with record participation in both the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon and Bama Kids Run. HBGM is one of the very few events in Sweden that saw an increase in participant numbers. The sun shone as usual, and with a spontaneous registration the night before, Jesper Lundberg claimed victory in the Helsingborg Marathon, setting a new neat course record. Additionally, local runner Anna Bjurman improved her own course record in the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon to 1:20:04. Over 400 children participated in the Bama Kids Run, making it a success. We had the honor of hosting both the Swedish Championships in marathon for veterans and the Sk\u00e5ne Championships in marathon for seniors and veterans.<\/p>\n

2023<\/h3>\n

The year that once again offered brilliant sunshine, a grandiose record number of participants in both the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon and Dole Kids Run, and new course records in both the Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon. Jesper Lundberg from \u00c4ppelbo once again claimed a magnificent victory in the Helsingborg Marathon, shaving off his own course record by a whopping 6 minutes as he crossed the finish line in an incredible time of 2:23:34. Local runner Anna Bjurman once again secured a gold medal in the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon after a truly strong race, setting both a personal best and a new course record for women with an impressive time of 1:19:17. The 2023 edition of HBGM is simply summed up best with the words running joy, community celebration, and magic!<\/p>\n

2024<\/h3>\n

The Year of Records! Ten-year anniversary of Helsingborg Marathon and the largest number of participants in the race\u2019s history. Not only did nearly 2,000 participants stand on the starting line for the marathon, but there was also a record number of participants in the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon<\/span> with over 3,000 runners, and in pure speed, there was also a record in Dole Kids Run<\/span> with around 800 eager children. We also managed to break a <\/span>heat record with <\/span>29 degrees and blazing sun. <\/span>It turned into a true festival, and local runner Anna Bjurman<\/span> claimed yet another victory in the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon<\/span>, while Jesper Lundberg<\/span> made his return\u2014but this time at half the distance\u2014meaning he has now won both the Helsingborg Marathon<\/span> and the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon<\/span>. There was a new winner in Helsingborg Marathon<\/span> in both the women\u2019s and men\u2019s categories, and this year we celebrated Linda Gistedt<\/span> and Elov Olsson<\/span>. Henrik Orre<\/h2>\n

From 15 km it was a solo run to the first historic victory. A very happy Henrik receive the exclusive statuette as the very first men’s winner of Helsingborg Marathon.<\/p>\n

The following year he won again. The next two years 2016 and 2017 he took the second place. Illness stopped Henrik in 2018 but he was back in 2019 with a one goal.
