The running boom is back in Sweden, which both we and our colleagues notice, and of course, it’s incredibly fun. But because we value you having a great experience on September 7th and maintaining the family atmosphere around the race, we have chosen to set a limit on the number of participants. The maximum limit for this year’s Helsingborg Marathon is 2000 runners and 3000 runners for the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon.<\/p>\n

Already mark June 14th in your calendar, dig out your most festive and vibrant running clothes, and get ready for an evening you won’t soon forget. Just like in previous years, we’ve placed the heart of the party down at Gr\u00f6ningen, and the course runs along the fast and completely Strandpromenaden, filled with music, lights, dance, and crazy competitions.<\/p>\n

HBGM celebrates 10 years with a new course!<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white” align=”align_left” border_width=”2″ el_width=”10″ css=”.vc_custom_1509489856265{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]With ten years since the start and a growing number of runners for each new edition of the Helsingborg Marathon, we are now taking a new comprehensive approach to the course layout for both the Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon.<\/p>\n

The changes made to the course are based on the desire to offer all our runners an even higher quality of our races while meeting the new conditions posed by a rapidly growing number of participants. The fact that Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon are now internationally certified and approved by World Athletics as A World Ranking Competition<\/a>, allowing our runners to qualify for international championships and receive international statistics and world rankings, is also a contributing factor to the desire to refine our course and offer our runners an even better track.<\/p>\n

By reducing elevation gain, we create opportunities for faster times. By changing some parts that were placed on challenging surfaces, we make the course more runnable. By routing the new course through new areas, our runners have the chance to discover new parts of our beautiful city.<\/p>\n

All changes made will be done with great consideration for all the fantastic HBGM runners, and we are confident that you will enjoy the new course as much as we do. Of course, you will have the opportunity to test run both the Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon courses during the test runs before September 7<\/a>, which will take place this spring. Elmina Saksi’s running Helsingborg Marathon 2024!<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black” align=”align_left” border_width=”2″ el_width=”10″ css=”.vc_custom_1585571981205{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Elmina Saksi<\/a> is the 43-year-old high school teacher with a lot on her plate. A mother of four, personal trainer, dietitian, and dedicated runner for the past 10 years \u2013 and on September 7th, she is coming to Helsingborg to run the Helsingborg Marathon!<\/p>\n

When asked about her favorite distance, the answer is obvious.<\/p>\n

– Marathon! I have run 31 marathons so far, with my fastest time being 2:50:15 in Malaga 2021 \u2013 and in 2024, I hope to set a new personal best and run a marathon in under 2:50.<\/p>\n

And what are your absolute favorite runs?<\/p>\n

– Easy runs with friends! Preferably on flat asphalt along the sea!<\/p>\n

After wanting to run the Helsingborg Marathon for many years, it finally works out, and on September 7th, you’ll find her at the starting line with her husband.<\/p>\n

– Helsingborg Marathon is a race I have wanted to run for a long time, and running it this year feels extra special as HBGM celebrates its 10th anniversary! I have heard so many positive things about the race, that it is well-organized and beautiful. Additionally, I like that it is also possible to run a half marathon at the same time, so my husband, who doesn’t want to run as far, can also participate!<\/p>\n

We are so happy to welcome Elmina to Helsingborg, and we cross our fingers for a really good running year with both enjoyable training and a new personal best!<\/p>\n

Say hi to Frans!<\/h2>\n

This year, we are thrilled to raise funds for Frans, a happy and sporty 8-year-old who lives in Malm\u00f6 with his family. He loves playing soccer, practicing table tennis, playing video games, and going on running sessions with “Gl\u00e4djeknuff,” where he gets to experience both speed and the surroundings from the specially designed running stroller. Due to a CP injury believed to have occurred during fetal development, Frans uses a wheelchair. Despite being very active in his daily life, Frans’ legs are usually passive. He can move them and walk a few meters with the help of a walker – but with a Racerunner, Frans could become more active with his legs, thereby increasing his muscle strength, blood circulation, and fitness. His entire body would simply benefit from the movements a Racerunner allows! A Racerunner costs 40,000 SEK, and when you register for any of our races during HBGM 2024, you can donate money during the registration process, which will go directly to Frans’ fundraising. If you are already registered, you can make a donation through our shop, and these funds will also go directly to Frans’ fundraising.<\/p>\n

Runners Club is up and running!<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black” align=”align_left” border_width=”2″ el_width=”10″ css=”.vc_custom_1585571981205{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]HBGMs and Filborna Arena’s running group, Runners Club, which started in 2015, has kicked off its new season – season 10! Runners Club is a training group that trains two to three times a week towards the goal of the Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon on September 7, 2024. Our inspiring and loving coaches guide and motivate you through the sessions so that you can get as much joy, camaraderie, and development as you wish for.<\/p>\n

We enrich the year with training weekends, lectures, guest coaches, experiential runs, after-run events, and several fun races. You are always welcome to try a few sessions for free before making a decision. Additionally, we have an official test session on October 23!<\/p>\n

Two new course records by Anna and Jesper!<\/h2>\n

Things went fast at this year’s Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon. Last year’s winner of the Helsingborg Marathon, Jesper Lundberg from Hunflens LS, took off immediately and quickly found himself running alone. Jesper was already on the scene in 2022, winning and setting a new course record. However, this year, he wanted to improve upon it, and the new course record now stands at 2:23:34, an improvement of a whole five minutes and 45 seconds.<\/p>\n

Local runner Anna Bjurman didn’t want to be outdone and secured her second consecutive victory in the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon with a new record time of 1:19:17. For her, it was an improvement by 47 seconds. Hats off to these amazing runners.<\/p>\n

It was a truly great running event with record-breaking participation in both the HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon and Bama Kids Run. We would like to extend a big thank you to all you amazing runners who come here and spread such running joy before, during, and after the race. With over 4200 runners at the starting line, this became the largest HBGM ever, and the fact that the sun was shining as it usually does made it even better. The top three fastest men and the top three fastest women in both the Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon will be rewarded with great prizes from MIO, while also receiving cheers from the spectators along the magical home stretch.<\/p>\n

Bama Kids Run is back!<\/h2>\n

At Bama Kids Run, all the children get to run on our magical finish line along the Strandpromenaden and stretch their hands in the air as they run under the finish line. Afterwards, of course, all children receive an equally stylish medal as all other participants in HBGM and a lot of goodies.<\/p>\n
