There are no stupid questions
There are a lot of practicalities associated with a big event that are good to know. You’ll find the answers to the most common questions below. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us at hello@hbgm.se
Are the courses control measured?
Yes. Both marathon, half marathon and relay are control measured by a qualified person (Per Månsson).
Are the races sanctioned and approved by the Swedish Athletics Association?
Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon is sanctioned and approved by the Swedish Athletics Association on a national level. Both courses have been control measured by a authorized person (Per Månsson).
Are there pacers during the races?
Are you planning on beating your friend or your own time from last year? No matter what, we have Löplabbet HBGM Pacers who will help you reach your goal. We are grateful for our friends from HLK-92, IS Göta and ambassadors of HBGM who helps us with this task. A pacer is a runner who keeps a certain pace during the race and gets to the finish line on a certain time.
Helsingborg Marathon 2023 offers Löplabbet HBGM Pacers on the following times:
3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00 and 5:15
HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon 2023 offers Löplabbet HBGM Pacers on following times:
1:20, 1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10 and 2:20
Pace per kilometer is equal to the average pace. For example the 4 h-group will run with an average pace at 5 min and 40 sec per kilometer. Due to the fact that the first part of the course is flatter and more lightly sprung than many other parts of the race (plus higher levels of energy and adrenaline in the body) the pacers will start the race in an approx. 10 seconds faster pace than the planned one. For example, the 4 h-group will start the race in a 5:30 pace in order to be able to slow down a bit while running uphills and still manage to complete the set time for the race.
Are there showers and sauna?
You will find showers, sauna and changing rooms at Kallis Kallbadhus, approx. 300 meters north of the finish line. This is included in the entry fee.
Are there toilets at the start area?
You’ll find a lot of toilets in both the start and the finish area. There are also toilets at every relay exchange station along the course.

Can I leave my bag at the relay exchange station?
Unfortunately we can’t offer any storage for your bag at the relay exchange stations.
However, you can ask your teammate if you can leave your bag with him/her. So you get the relay baton from your team mate and your team mate gets your bag.
Can I run with my dog?
Unfortunately, you are not allowed to run with your dog in any of our races during HBGM. This is because there may be people with pet allergies participating, as well as runners who are not comfortable with dogs.
Can I transfer my registration for the race?
It’s ok to transfer your registration to someone else if you’re unable to attend. Buy your transfer in our shop! This needs to be done before we close the registration August 20, 2023.

How does HBGM Relay work?
HBGM Relay is available in two different distances – HBGM Relay 21.1 k and HBGM Relay 42.2 k. For the relay you need 2-4 persons in each team and there are distinct exchange stations along the course. You find general information about the relay below.
You have to run every distance with a baton (which you get together with your bibs). The baton needs to be noticeable during the whole race and will be handed over to your team-mate at the next exchange station.
Every distance have a maximum time limit from 1 h 15 min up to 1 h 30 min (counting from the start time at 10.30). If any runner doesn’t succeed to get to the exchange station before the stated time the next runner will get the opportunity to start anyway. This will happen with a common start signal after the previous stations maximum time limit (station 1 = 12.05, station 2 = 13.20 och station 3 = 14.35). These runners will get a baton in replacement. Teams who implement the race in this way will get there final time within two days after the race.
The bib envelope contains a bib with a chip that controls the timekeeping. That means the team doesn’t have to decide in advance which team-mate who’s running which part of the course. You find a detailed map of the course here.

We will see who has the sharpest finish in this year’s HBGM. Compete against yourself, compete against your friends, or compete against everyone participating in the Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon.
MIO awards prizes to the three fastest boys and girls in both the Helsingborg Marathon and HOKA Helsingborg Half Marathon.
How does the timekeeping work?
Every runner gets an electronic chip in their race bib which controls the timekeeping. The timekeeping starts when you cross the start line and will track your time all the way to the finish line. With that said, there’s no need to be worried if you’re far back when race starts. However, it’s really important that you run all the way through the gates at the start and finish line as well as the relay stations.
The chip is for one-time use which means there’s no need to give it back after the race. So, save your race bib, take a picture and share your achievement on Instagram, Facebook. Be proud of your achievement!
